Specialty Allergy Free home with Ground Source Heat pump

Location: Lakewood Township Duluth

Existing home HVAC system: Electric baseboard on MN Power duel fuel program. No air conditioning. Summit’s Solution: two zone forced air heating and cooling system powered by 5 ton ground source heat pump. Summit was chosen to do the project due to the high standards that had to be met to install system. Due to owners severe allergy reactions to all types of chemicals, tapes, silicones, insulations etc…. Summit washed all ducting, brackets, and equipment before installation. Entire duct system was solid galvanized sheet metal with all joints & fittings sealed air tight. The geothermal system had to be disassembled and all manufacture oils, insulations and glues removed. Operating costs are now 60% less, with the added bonus of central air conditioning and free hot water! Specialty air cleaner with UV light was installed to maintain clean air throughout home.

3,060 square foot home in Hermantown

This was an open loop geothermal forced air system that replaced a fuel oil furnace. The homeowner had an artesian well. The geothermal unit was hooked into the existing well and pressure tank. After the heat was pulled off of the well water it was discharged into a reservoir to make its way back to the aquifer. A desuperheater was installed with the unit to provide about 70% of the domestic hot water heating.
